Christmas is just around the corner...
The perfect time to promote – swimming – it’s the gift that lasts a lifetime.
Babies and young children don’t remember the amount of presents they received, but they will remember the time they spent with their families. Children remember more about festive traditions, like decorating the Christmas tree, making cards, and baking together. In the water, we love to capture these special traditions and bring them alive into stories.
The end of the year can be busy in the countdown to Christmas, so here at Aqua Sensory we also like to include lots of sensory calm in our classes. We slow down, to tune into ourselves, allowing our minds and bodies to relax. We wait, watch, and wonder how our children are processing all the sensory sensations, often there are so many new experiences to process all at once!
The water is the best for sensory developmental play and affirms our #PrincipalFour ‘less is more’ message. We are not advocating a ‘toy less’ class, but one with more ‘intentional water play.’ We love to choose our resources with care to reduce sensory overwhelm.
We always start with water, the most multi-sensory element and natural in every way. We find with fewer toys our children focus more. It’s a more mindful approach to learning to swim.
What is more precious than the gift of love and connection?!
⛄Snow Angel
Whilst your child has their head on your shoulder, enjoy your floating time together. Enjoy the stillness, be present, whisper words of love:
"I am here, you are safe."
Every child wants to feel your warmth, to be accepted for who they are.
A star float becomes a Snow Angel with a gentle wave of the arms (with or without their parent's support or aids).
“Ears in the water, tummy up high, I swish my arms and legs,
as I look up to the Christmas stars in the sky.”
