Making Sense of Sensory

Sensory Cues, Sensory Reactions and Solutions, Supporting Individual Needs.

Our Fact Sheets are designed to support our parents, the early year’s educator or swim professional in providing more information and knowledge in our classes.

At Aqua Sensory, it is important to note that we do not judge or diagnose developmental delays or sensory processing disorders. These fact sheets are designed to bring a new awareness to how pool sessions and classes can be adapted to meet our children’s individual needs.

They have been written by Occupational Therapists and Health Professionals. There are 3 fact sheets in this series: Supporting Individual Needs, Sensory Reactions and Possible Solutions and Sensory Cues.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to our senses.

The optimum learning environment is a sensory-rich one, where all our senses are working in HARMONY.

Written by Occupational Therapists and Health Professionals our fact sheets are designed to bring the latest knowledge and research into the pool.

Sensory Cues: our one-page download will provide you with details of the 8 sensory systems and possible sensory reactions in the pool. Designed to provide a more individual and empathetic approach to facilitate learning.

Sensory Reactions & Cues: our four-page download details the main pool equipment and toy resources, with the sensory cue and also our detailed explanation of our potential sensory solutions.

Supporting Individual Needs: This five-page download provides you with an adapted teach approach to children with a diagnosis.

“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” Ignacio Estrada
